Still restoring my 56 GMC Suburan Pickup. It is Flame Red and White, interior is Semiole Brown and Panna Cream. I have some very rare options. Posi-traction rear end, orginial power steering, and GMC windshild washer. It had a 59 Ponitac engine in it when purchased with a 4 barrel. I elected to use what I had. This truck has been change to the Suburban Carrier by me. It took five five to find the right seat covers. It is as orginial as it can get, however I did install power disk brakes. Should be up and running for Hot August Nights. Thats if I can find a painter who is not smoking pot. I do have a GMC part brake down book which can be copied. If you need any info, please feel free to contact me.

Purchased in Easton, WA while out camping. As of 9-7-03, the rear fenders have been removed and the bed is ready to come off (wow, what a dirty job that was, cutting torch and mud under the fenders). Plan on a frame off with this. Not sure if I want to go stock or rod yet. If your'e in the Kent, WA area, email me. I have a few extra parts and I am sure it will grow. How about you?

Bought this beauty in Sacramento in 1977. Had the doors, fenders and hood acid dipped and reworked before painting in '81. Love the combination of longbed, 316 V8(one year motor) and 4 speed Hydra-Matic. Still need to do a frame-up since the wiring and steering/suspension is in "less than desirable" shape. Aiming for early 2005 to start a professional restoration so as to have it ready for her 50th year!

This poor truck has been thru a loong restoration process....19 years
and counting! It is getting closer now just in the past 2-3years.
The 336 V8 is not stock as I couldn't locate a rebuildable 316 V8.
If it weren't for the support of my wife, it would be sitting today under a tarp
....maybe.
Locating a replacement 9 foot right side bed panel has been a hard ship as well.
The gear ratio is original with new ring and pinion and a Detroit Locker rear and I
have added an overdrive unit to make it driveable on the freeway, but is removable for
a truck show if necessary.

I Purchased the truck in 1979, 26 years ago in Canton Illinois. Started stripping the truck and then moved so it followed me in pieces. Finally in 2004 had body media blasted, engine overhauled, ,frame blasted and painted. I am currently rebuilding transmission, body and adding front wheel brakes therwise the truck will be stock. I think this truck had benn used in a grocery store business and sold to a young man who painted the original aqua/white to white exterior with blue interior.

I found this truck in Newton, Mississippi in July 2001. It was in pretty rough shape in the usual places. The owner had plans for him and his son to restore it. The son lost interest and I was able to buy it. I trailered it back to Texas and immediatley began a frame off restoration with lot's of help from my wife. The truck is 95% complete. I still have to bolt on the spare tire rack, put the heater in and find some original wheels to get the hubcaps to work. It's been a real challenge. My wife and I also did a 55 Buick Special 2dr HT during the same time frame and we are now working on a 57 Chevy 1/2 ton stepside.

Was owned by first owner until he died over 5 yrs ago. The second owner
was gioing to hot rod it, but inherited two Ford Model A's, so decided on
restoring those, and selling the GMC. Until I bought it a few months ago,
and brought it to the PHX AZ. area, it was in the Stockton area. I think I
will keep it pretty well stock, but I might install a Pontiac 370 engine for
absolutely no good reason! I will change to front disc brakes. I'm thinking
of using it to tow my Aliner folding travel trailer a few times a yr.

Truck History
I was given this truck when I was in high school and drove it
to school in 1978. My father had purchased the truck from a
sheep farmer and he was the third owner as far as I know. The
truck appears to have all the options that a truck at that
time could possibly have, it would seem. It has the plane on
the hood, a wrap around back window, 4 speed hydramatic
transmission, fiberglass fleet box, the Pontiac v-8 engine,
sharp instruments, two spotlights with a mirror back to use as
side mirrors, a prism on the dash so you can see when you get
stuck under the traffic lights, and a speaker on the top of
the inside cab. If anyone has any info on the specs I would
appreciate it. We just got it running for the first time since
79 over labor day. I would like to restore my truck and drive
her everyday. I am slow with the internet so be patient for a
response.

I bought this truck in 2000 after I had regretably sold my '69 Firebird. My wife knew I was distrought and told me that I should buy this truck. It has a big back window and factory clock. It is totally disassembled but getting ready to start it's rebirth. Unfortunately, the complete drive train is not orginal so I am updating it with a 330 hp New GM Crate motor and 700R4 tranny. It currently has a 4:10 12 bolt rear end. I wish that it was all orginal but that's the breaks!

I recently purchased this truck and waiting on it to arrive from Arizona. The story I received from the seller is that it has been in California and Arizona all its life. The old man who used to own it only drove it on occasion to his bowling nights. He parked it under cover after someone stole the hubcaps, GMC Hydra-Matic emblem off the driver's side and the radio. I'll post more once it's delivered.
